On Sunday, June 14, we held the “Nihongo Experience Team NAKAMA” event, which was attended by 12 foreign residents.
This time, we invited a representative from the Komaki Police Station as a guest instructor to teach participants about bicycle traffic rules. After watching videos of actual traffic accidents, participants were shocked and gained a renewed understanding of the importance of following traffic regulations and wearing helmets.
We also discussed traffic rules in the participants’ home countries. In Japan, pedestrians have the right of way, but some participants shared that such a rule is not clearly defined in their own countries.
After the classroom session, everyone went outside and used their own bicycles for a photo session to learn and demonstrate bicycle safety rules. Using props such as headphones, umbrellas, and printed traffic signals, we took photos illustrating ten different bicycle safety rules.
With the support of representatives from Komaki Police Station, the Citizen Safety Division of Komaki City Hall, and a volunteer, all participants were able to learn together in a fun and engaging way.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible!
